Before you start: device checklist
Five checks that prevent most failed jobs — do them before every service.
Run through this checklist before every job. It prevents most failed operations and protects your customer's data.
1. Check model support
Search the Supported models directory for the exact model. Support depends on the chipset, firmware and security patch — the same model name can use a different chipset in another region.
2. Back up important data
Functions such as Format, Factory reset and FRP reset erase user data. Back up anything the customer needs before you start.
3. Charge the phone
Make sure the battery is charged above 50%. A phone that switches off during flashing or reset can fail to boot.
4. Install the correct USB drivers
Install the drivers for the phone's chipset (MediaTek, Qualcomm and others) from Drivers and utilities on the Downloads page, then restart the PC if the driver asks you to.
5. Use the latest version
Check the Downloads page and update to the latest MRST PRO release. New releases add models and fix issues.
Good practice
- Use a short, good-quality USB data cable and a USB port directly on the PC (avoid hubs).
- Close other phone tools that may take over the USB port.
- Service only devices you own or are authorised to repair.
If a job fails, note the exact message shown in the tool and contact support with the model, chipset and MRST version.
